Bourn to start the season on the disabled list (Yahoo Sports)

Cleveland Indians center fielder Michael Bourn will start the season on the disabled list because of a tight left hamstring, though he could return within the first week. The Indians will put Bourn on the DL before their opener March 31 at Oakland. ”He is getting close to being game ready,” general manager Chris Antonetti said Monday. ”We want to be able to build up his innings, and his progressions so when he’s back he will be able to impact the team.” Outfielder Nyjer Morgan was told by Antonetti and manager Terry Francona that he will be on the Indians’… Read More

Texas-Maryland Preview (Yahoo Sports)

To keep tabs on Texas-Maryland, look for the 6-foot-7 center whose hair matches the Longhorns’ uniforms. The Terrapins would love to see as little of Imani McGee-Stafford as possible when fourth-seeded Maryland hosts No. 5 seed Texas on Tuesday in the second round of the NCAA tournament. The Pirates and Diamondbacks have had preliminary trade talks regarding shortstop Didi Gregorius. The Pittsburgh Pirates have had trade discussions with the Arizona Diamondbacks over a possible deal for shortstop Didi Gregorius, according to┬áJon Morosi of Fox Sports. Despite starting 97 games at shortstop for the Diamondbacks in 2013, the team has made Gregorius available via trade after Chris Owings won the shortstop position battle for Arizona this spring. The Pirates, for their part, are heading into 2014 with Jordy Mercer penciled in as their starting shortstop but, if Morosi’s report is accurate, could be looking for an upgrade at… Read More

Chelsea vs. Galatasaray: Didier Drogba returns as a potential villain (Yahoo Sports)

Chelsea have the better team and probably win. No one cares about those things, because Didier Drogba. While some of the round’s biggest or closest feeling ties have turned into blowouts, Chelsea are strangely uncomfortable heading into the second leg of their Champions League tie with Galatasaray. A Galatasaray win wouldn’t just be an upset because Chelsea are top of the Premier League while their adversaries are struggling to keep pace in the Super Lig title race, but because of the two teams’ managers.
